Reykjavik-Akureyri-Mývatn – 3 day tour - Winter - IGT 601

The Amazing North Iceland
North Iceland has so much to offer and to be seen all year around. This is a truly wonderful gem of nature. The area offers a spectrum of landscapes and backdrops including long and deep fjords, snow-capped peaks, moon-like lava fields, spring and summer lush vegetation, stunning waterfalls, outlandish geothermal sites such as numerous fumaroles, mud pots and hot springs, active volcanoes and astonishing crater formations. The birds and whales life is plentiful and rich. Summer temperature can be among the best in Iceland, and winters can be really magical after the landscape gets covered by layers of snow.

Following are the highlights of the tour:

Day 1 - Winter time - (September-April)

The journey continues to Goðafoss, „Waterfall of the Gods“, Lake Mývatn, Skútustaðagígar pseudocraters, a small walk through Dimmuborgir searching for the yule lads and then on to Námaskarð, a sulfuric Martian landscape. There is no better way than to end the day in Jarðböðin bath, a relaxing hot nature bath.
